In addition to exhibitors and presentations, one of the most remarkable issues of Barcelona Degusta was the little side for social initiative. There were few of them, but they showed what they do related to food.
Intermon
Oxfam va portar una mostra dels productes de comerç just amb els que
treballa des de fa anys, potenciant el desenvolupament de les zones on es
produeixen.
As for its part, Fundación Theodora was present with solidary cookies, that were sold to get money for their projects of attending children at hospital.
Acció contra la Fam was with its programme Restaurantes
contra el Hambre, an initiative consisting in restaurants who participate with some dishes on their menu with a part of the prize going to projects of malnutrition reduction.
In the same line, Nutrició sense Fronteres introduced Hotels contra la Pobresa, a campaign for recovering leftovers from hotel restaurants to share amongst NGOs.
And, at last, Yamuna, a little NGO that works for comunnity development in Madagascar. They had fruit jellies made with vanilla from the big island, and vanilla beans. I must say I had never seen such big vanilla beans.
