VII Dia Cuina

At news-stands you can find the number of Cuina magazine with the article about VII Dia Cuina.

As usual from some years ago, Cuina magazine organizes a recipe contest for gastrobloggers. And we join at Fira del Porc i la Cervesa de Manlleu.

This year, we enjoyed the Fira, but we also had the chance of visiting a deli, Can Molist, where we knew how colds were made and taste some delicious ones, as the "llonganissa" that last year won the Concurs Nacional de Llonganissa.

Later, we had the chance of visiting the Santa Maria de Manlleu church bell tower, where there are amazing views of Manlleu and its surroundings.

The last station of the tour was the Casa de Cultura de Can Puget, a beautiful building that hosted an exhibition of Núria Grygús, an artist who also has gastronomical references.

And about contest, Anna Genís (blog Llepadits) won the prize for innovative recipe with a "Cheese dome filled with smoked beer".

Sara-Maria Ayxàs-Valls (blog Delícies del Rebost) won the prize for traditional recipe with a "Pickled rabbit with beer".

And Anna Fornell (blog Cuina fàcil) got the prize for healthy recipe with "Vegetable and mushroom canelonni with beer sauce".

Delicious chalkboards

Juan Linares appered for first time on this blog a time ago. And today he do it again.

This time, he do it as chalkboard illustrator of food places, because he is an specialist in drawing on chalkboards.

The truth is thera are many chalkboards with food designs, but the ones of Juan Linares stand out from the others by quality.

Looking at his works, anyone can get an idea of what can eat... but also, it forces the food places to mantain an aesthetic in dishes for not to disappoint customers. That's the handicap of working with an artist!

Gastropoetry

Tuesday 21st it was the World Poetry Day. And in Barcelona there was the chance of going to a Gastropoetry recital, that means, poetry related with food. It was a long time I did not go to a poetry recital, so I decided it was a good chance.

And I was not mistaken.

Jordi Beumala (gastronomical activist) and Joan Vigó (poet) offered us a poetry show that had as centre the dance of poetry with gastronomy. They both recite poems of Narcís Comadira, Miquel Martí i Pol, Enric Casassas, Santiago Rusiñol and Josep Maria de Sagarra amongts others. The one who won in presence was Martí i Pol, because in 1988 he published "Bon Profit!", a whole book of poems dedicated to food.

Beumala and Vigó (with a powerful and deep voice) read what poets composed to suggest emotions about "sofregit" (sauté vegetables base for other preparations), tomato, onion, bread with tomato, cod... but the star were the eggs, not only because Martí i Pol's poem about fried eggs but also because of a satirical-erotic verses of Sagarra.

A poetical evening... And I hope it won't be the only one.

Boqueria Convida

From today untul january 7th, every time you go to the Boqueria market keep your tickets. At the market information point you can exchange them, every 10€, for participations to go to the restaurants Gaig, Ca l'Isidre and Torre d'Alta Mar. It is the Boqueria Convida.

Last 29th, the activity was introduced in an act where it was announced the poster of it. Amongst many pieces from Escola Massana students, it was chosen the one of Naida Mazzenga.

After the artistic part, it came the food part. We could taste the products can be found at the market...

Also, a wonder cooked by Òscar from Torre d'Alta Mar: a foie mousse that wanted to seem a cherry tomato.

All of it was accompanied with Damm beer, who host the act at Antiga Fàbrica Damm.

Art and wine

The advantage of knowing artists like Juan Linares is being in contact with pieces with a irrefutable aesthetic wonder.

As illustrator, Linares has a lovely project called "Calcetín", but following him, anyone can see how his drawings decorate restaurants and wine bottles. And here a sample...

These are the designs made for wines served at the restaurant Galería Gastronómica of Barcelona. Illustrations are based in Lorenzo Quinn's sculptures. A project, without any doubt, that joins gastronomy (wine of a restaurant) and art (Juan Linare's illustrations and Lorenzo Quinn's sculptures).
