Somontano's tasting at Petit Celler

At april, I had the chance of doing my first wine tasting. It was at Petit Celler, a wine cellar with a huge quantity of worldwide wines, where we were very welcome.

The reason I did not publish this post before is I wanted to write about my introduction to wine tasting (by the wonderful Raquel Latre) with the beginning of wine life: the grape harvest.

Somontano is an Aragón Pre-Pyrenees area where grow different kinds of grapes due to the different micro-climates of the area. This allows a huge diversity of wines that could be very different ones from others.
During the last years, are taking profit of their wine culture and production to increase the enoturism on the area, so they can diversify their economical activity.

Enate

This is a wine wine with Chardonnay, the most grown grape at Somontano, because it means the 50 % of grape harvest oh the area.

It is a young wine with low sharpness and fruit scents. The colour is between yellow and green. A fresh and refreshing wine.

Viñas del Vero

Withe wine with Gewürztraminer grape (second grape kind produced in the area), that makes a wine with floral scents.

A yellow-green wine with floral scents and a taste of roses and lychee.

Alquézar

The rosé wine of the event.

It is a versatile wine because it fits with meat, chocolate, tapas, sweets... It is little bit sparkling and its scent and taste remembers very much to candies. It is one of the most sold wines from Somontano.

Antiqua

Black wine with texture made with Garnacha grape.

It is astringent to palate and wood scent, concretely to French oak, where it has been maturing.

Sers

Wine with Parraleta grape.

The scent and the taste remembered to wood.

To finish the event, there were served cold meat and cheese from the area to go with tasted wines.

It was an unforgettable afternoon!!!!
