For anybody with more than thirty-five years old born and raised at La Barceloneta, the gastronomical scene of the quarter is heartbreaking.
Some time ago we were proud to say there was no place to eat like La Barceloneta and it was difficult to choose a place to recommend it when somebody asked for a recommendation, because there were many places to choose. But now...
Now it is difficult to choose because of the lack of "Barceloneta flavour": too many restaurants thinking about turist that offer food that does not honour the quarter... And the classic ones, fall...
A restaurant from la Barceloneta esablished at 1921 that still preserves the quarter essence:
They make a sangria that is a dangerous nectar that comes down easily...
The steamed mussels, tasty and juicy...
So tender deep fried squids; really home-made croquettes (you can appreciate the real scent of nutmeg); cod fritters where anybody can appreciate the fish; and clean and tasty fried anchovies... all no greasy at all...
The black rice, so tasty, as it is ruled... In the exact point... All in company of a divine all i oli...
As dessert, a no heavy at all Catalan cream...
To make all go down, herbal "orujo" was a good end.
The reencounter with the "Barceloneta flavour" filled me of joy as many time ago had no experienced in a restaurant. Still there is hope...
