Gastropoetry

Tuesday 21st it was the World Poetry Day. And in Barcelona there was the chance of going to a Gastropoetry recital, that means, poetry related with food. It was a long time I did not go to a poetry recital, so I decided it was a good chance.

And I was not mistaken.

Jordi Beumala (gastronomical activist) and Joan Vigó (poet) offered us a poetry show that had as centre the dance of poetry with gastronomy. They both recite poems of Narcís Comadira, Miquel Martí i Pol, Enric Casassas, Santiago Rusiñol and Josep Maria de Sagarra amongts others. The one who won in presence was Martí i Pol, because in 1988 he published "Bon Profit!", a whole book of poems dedicated to food.

Beumala and Vigó (with a powerful and deep voice) read what poets composed to suggest emotions about "sofregit" (sauté vegetables base for other preparations), tomato, onion, bread with tomato, cod... but the star were the eggs, not only because Martí i Pol's poem about fried eggs but also because of a satirical-erotic verses of Sagarra.

A poetical evening... And I hope it won't be the only one.
