Every time I am invited to an event, I am full of joy. Well, I am like this... But if it is the first edition of the event, this joy increases.
So, you can imagine that the invitation for the first edition of Fira dels Porrons d'Abrera made me so happy.
This little city of Baix Llobregat area wanted to remember it was a meeting point for years, because it was the place were farmers of the area (and close areas) met when they went to sell their production to Mercat del Born of Barcelona. They use to stop in some taverns of carrer del Rebato that wanted to show who was the best. At the door of the taverns there were some big porrons that contained free wine for the ones who could drink from them. But to lift them, anyone had to do a big effort...
The point is Fira dels Porrons want to become an event to remember the gastronomy of Abrera, as Itxaso Elosegui did with a rice with sausage and cuttlefish.
Restaurants of the area cooked some traditional recipes as beef Fricandó de vedella or rice with rabbit.
And, Duch pastry brought delicious sweets for dessert time.
